About 100 miles SW of Houma?
LINK

quote:

Developing circulation in the GOM just south of Houma, LA. WSW winds, westerly winds, northerly winds found, just not a closed surface low yet, and lack of any deep convection means this is just beginning to develop.

quote:

Pressures are still high near 30.00in on the coast of LA, the center of the developing disturbance is roughly 50-100 miles southwest of Houma, LA.

Or is LINK dawnawakening dude just trying to scare people?

How much could it develop being just 100 miles off the coast?

Doesn't matter if something'sdeveloping that close to land nothing would come of it. Unless it was some freak storm that blew up instantly

based on the observations, the National Hurricane Center classified the system as Tropical Depression Nine, while located roughly 60 miles (100 km) southeast of Matagorda, Texas

Humberto pretty much formed and became a Hurricane around 60 miles out.

i cannot find a map that shows what's going on way out there in the gulf. I'd like to see a map that shows wind directions, baro readings and radar.

it is - you can click on "earth" and look at the wind at different heights (1000mb, 850 mb, 700 mb, etc). hats off to whoever developed that
