Anyone watch this yet? I watched it last night and found it pretty interesting, until the point the film's low-budget started to shine through. They had me going for a little while that it actually was a true story, but it quickly becomes evident that it is not. However; the Tarsus Club and people like Murray Chance are in fact real. It's got me thinking, aside from the obvious fiction part of the film, what if some of this stuff is true. It makes a lot of sense. I ended up giving it 1 star just because I was pissed it led me on 1/4-1/2 of the way believing it was going to be a real documentary. But it was pretty interesting to say the least. Anyone see it yet?

ETA: I had never heard of the god "Mistras", who was said to have been born on December 25 and resurrected 3 times after his death; which pre-dates Jesus Christ by nearly 2000 years. That was a pretty intriguing part of the documentary to me. Makes you question some things at the least.

What did you think of the ending?

SPOILERS BELOW..................

Did they kill him or was the bull run just a scare tactic?

I didn't think they killed him. I couldn't figure it out though honestly. I mean if they had killed him, why would they have let the other guy go? They also showed a clip of that "off the grid" place Aaron had been talking about at the very end. So I guess he may have went there? Either way, it was just a strange ending. And what pissed me off also was that the 2nd filmmaker never said anything about the author Mark Tucker (?) being a part of the hunt. No explanation to that. Did he set them up? Or was he there infiltrating the hunt as well?

What did you think? And did you check out the Tarsus Club's website after watching like I did? Lol

I thought it was pretty obvious it was a mockumentary

Most people don't realize that nearly all major christian holidays are at least based on, if not outright intertwined with the pagan holidays that existed before them.

I never have. Not to that extent. I mean that's basically the entire base of Christianity.

I don't know much about the particular god they referred to, but the significance of the dates of December 25th and whatever day Easter falls on are rooted in pagan traditions.

Animal Planet fooled me once with that mockumentray BS. F**king Mermaids. I read something that recommended The Conspiracy so I knew going in it was fake. It was ok, kinda lost me in the middle but ity picked up nicely at the end.

Not to mention Noah's Flood was described in the Epic of Gilgamesh, around 2500 BC.

I'm still not sure if the other guy was in on it or not. I thought it may have been a set up to lure Aaron there so they could kill him, but it wasn't made clear.

First, I loved The Conspiracy. Cool premise for sure.

SPOILERS

Second, ole boy is clearly dead. The other guy was forced to make a deal to protect his family (remember Tarsus had them too). So the deal was he adopts the Tarsus lie that his buddy got scared and ran off to the off the grid community (convenient: no one can reach him by any modern communication!) in exchange for his family. That's why he is appearing next to two Tarsus representatives at the end.

so they could have him make the "we're not a big deal and our meetings aren't either" argument stronger

This was my take on it too. I just wasn't sure if the other guy knew about the bull run beforehand.

SPOILERS:

I don't remember if they showed Aaron being stabbed to death when they caught him. I seem to recall the film cutting away before that happened.

I really wanted them to ask Mark Tucker about his hands being broken

Yes, I wanted them to explain what the heck was wrong with them. Maybe they broke them because he wrote the story about them.

I felt like they killed Aaron and kidnapped the other guys family. The look on his wife's face when they were doing the interview made me feel that way. Also, I thought "Mark Tucker" set them up so that one of them could be killed for their ritual.

Cool movie.

SPOILER

When the dude looked in the mirror with the bull mask... Perfect.

I agree with others that said that Aaron was forced to go along with them once he was found out at the meeting.
