It may be true that most American Jews aren't Likidniks, but Likudniks seem to be overrepresented amongst American Jews with substantial money, power and influence.

Yep, the Evangelicals don't even understand their own book.

ill add on:

Hamas didnt kidnap the Israeli teens (when they have kidnapped, they announce it publicly), yet Isreal began an offensive targeting Hamas. Hamas, in defense, responded with rockets, to which Isreal responded with more targeting, and here we are today.

Moreover, Palestinians do not trust any peace deals with Isreal. In previous cease-fires, Isreal has agreed, in writing, to release 1000 prisoners, allow Palestinian fishers access from 2km to 12km in to the sea (or so), open Gaza borders with UN monitors to allow necessities, etc, and Isreal has not delivered on any of it.

Lastly, when Isreal promises the world, they not only look at their failure to deliver on previsou deals, but Gazans also look at the West Bank and see what life would be like if they succumbed to Isreal. 90% of the West Bank is Isreali settlments where there are numerous checkpoints and access is restricted for non-Isrealis, utilities such as power and water are controlled by Isreal where they ensure Isreali populations get priority service, and Palenstinians get unreliable inconsistent service....

It goes on.

Isreal treats Palenstinians, Gazans or not, like second rate humans, and because Isreal is a strategic ally to the US, we look the other way at the humanitarian issues theyve created.

BTW - i dont think shooting missles indescriminately at Isreal is the answer either, but for Gazans, someone (Hamas) is finally standing up to Isreal. They are their champion.

Oh - one more thing. When Hamas was voted to power and assumed control of Gaza, they agreed to uphold all charters/agreements/treaties from the previous government, from which the specific language of the destruction of Isreal had been removed. i think thanks to Clinton and Arafat.

regarding this war - isreal is targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. Not just Hamas. The beach assault on the 3 young boys playing socceer. The hospital. They detroyed the only water tower used to supply drinking water, and Gazans now use wells which draw salt water from the sea.
