LOST Claire question?(spoilers)

so newest GF hadn't see LOST so I decided to watch it with her
**Spoliers again** (not really, but I guess)
so in season 3 ep 12(Par avion) black haired Claire says she hates her mom and gets in a car accident
...it's then that she meets her dad and she's not pregnant
later that episode, the mother has been in a coma for a while and now blonde claire is obviously pregnant.
Not that big of deal except that when Blonde Claire first found out she was preggers, she said "my mom would disown me" (season 1 ep 10 raised by another)
so
1. writer/production screw up?
2. she was blond, found out she was pregnant, moved in with Thomas, then dyed hair black for a short period and got in wreck without mentioning to DR's that she was pregnant, then changed it back to blonde between then and when Thomas left her?

Well, she never really treated her mom like she was in a coma. Just because she said that, it doesn't mean that her mom isn't in a coma.
