IMO since 2009 his biggest problem has been keeping the ball in the fairway and I just don't understand why

I mean the guy has always struggled some with the driver but it's certainly gotten worse and being the golfing talent that he is it's hard I believe with as much practice as he does he can't hit it straight. Hell when he last won the British open (2006 I believe) he missed like one fairway only using a 3 wood

I'm sure there will be many different possibilities as to the reason for this and we probably won't ever know for sure why but I wanted to bring it to the board to discuss

What was the reason for their breakup? Didn't he have to change to a less violent swing so his body would hold up?

He still hits the 3-wood pretty dang well. I have zero idea if it is something that is mental, or it just doesn't work with the new swing. I have shorter backswing like Tiger does, and can hit my irons and fairway woods well, but struggle the most with the driver. That being said, I'm not a pro and don't practice eight hours a day. Also, his misses are way off. It's not like he is just missing the fairway and rolling into the rough.

How's that working out for him?

I think it is mental. He smokes it in the range. Gets to the course and puts a completely different swing on it.

Harmon probably tried to tell him to chill the frick out with all the drugs and hookers...

i just used to laugh at those that said tiger will never win another major, but i dunno.... it's not looking promising for him at the moment, and injuries seem to be coming more frequently...

He's never really been that accurate.

Dude just had one the greatest short game in history of golf.

Yep. He had one good year driving the ball with Butch, 2000. The rest of the time his driving accuracy ranking was abysmal. In the 100s most years.

I don't think it's a stretch to say it's held up better than if he never changed

And don't act like he hasn't won a whole bunch of tournaments/majors since Harmon

So if he has always sucked with the driver, what's his actual problem today? It has to be mental IMO.

This.

And lot of players with a powerful swing struggle with driving accuracy from time to time.

Another problem with him driving is he doesn't seem to have a "go-to" ball flight with his driving. He might just want to pick a ball flight that is safer for him and use that when the pressure is on...

In his prime, he had the ability to recover from wayward tee shots and an incredible short game.

Today, both of those abilities have dropped considerably.

He puts so much spin on the ball it's going to go wayward a lot. IMO he needs to change drivers from nike. That think just sucks and puts too much spin. The golf ball spins slot too. When he tries to hit it low he puts a ton of side spin on it.

O and his coach is subpar.

Tiger was told he had to restrict leg torque or he would have bad knees. Butch said that's the only way to swing. He left.

Trim the shaft, get a driver with more loft, smaller head. Maybe something between driver and 3w. Come up with a cool name for it like micro driver. Profit
