Question for the Jefferson Parish oldtimers:

This is about Harahan/River Ridge. From what I gather these are both pretty decent areas.
How have they changed from the 70s/80s through today, if at all?
Also, are they pretty uniform throughout, or are there better and sketchier areas to both?
TIA.

Harahan is pretty much the same besides the apartments on Hickory Ave. They've drawn some trash. I wouldnt even call it "sketchy". There are a few really good restaurants operating in harahan now.
River Ridge has developed a lot more since then, as far as housing. Sketchy area would be closer to the Kenner border, but most of the trash is on the Kenner side.
Both are great places to live.

So if I understand you correctly, was River Ridge the last part of Eastbank JP to get all built out?

Apparently RR is where the crack dealers live: LINK

can't say for sure, it's not that big of a city. They prob grew similarly for the most part. There are newer homes, and older ones. I was comparing to Harahan really. There are more newer homes in RR than Harahan id say

I grew up playing sports against that guy. He lives in Kenner i think, if not Kenner then right there on the border. Bunche Village area

I'm buying a house in harahan right now. Past little farms toward Kenner is sketch. Everything else is pretty nice. The houses are hit and miss with 50 yr olds next to brand new construction.
What are you looking/asking for?

Both have some lower, middle, and high income areas.
Harahan is pretty middle class throughout the city. As mentioned, the apartments on Hickory are probably lower income families, but they are concentrated to their own little area. The Imperial Woods area of Harahan is the nicest area, followed by Harahan Oaks.
RR has more expensive homes compared to Harahan, but they also have middle and lower income areas. Citrus to Little Farms north of Jefferson Hwy is littered with great neighborhoods and some $1m+ homes. Past Curtis gets lower income, and the rest is pretty middle class.
Id say both areas started "booming" late 70s early 80s. But like someone mentioned, some families have been there for 50+ years.

All this.
I live in River Ridge and love it. Gym, job and home are all in River Ridge. 15min from everywhere IMO.

I grew up in Harahan, and now live in River Ridge. Both have their good and bad spots. Harahan, you want to live between Colonial Club Dr, and Elaine ave on the river side. In the ridge, stay on the east side the Triangle West Bar and you should be good
