All-out war between world powers doesn't exist anymore. And if it ever does, we don't exist anymore. Thanks MAD!

Must have been nervous not knowing if the theories of an unstoppable nuclear reaction would continue till the Earth was engulfed were true.

A blind girl, across the border in Mexico, asked, "What was that?"

One old woman described how the sun rose twice that morning, "Once very briefly."

The $1 bets between the scientists on whether or not the explosion would incinerate the atmosphere.

Fermi covered all bets on those betting on the fire - although known for his work in the high brow world of physics, Fermi indicated, practically, "Those were easy bets - if I were wrong, they wouldn't be able to collect."

Oppenheimer was blacklisted during McCarthyism.

Crazy to think that he was reduced to cattle ranching and teaching high school physics.

Edit...oops, that was his brother, Frank.

You're thinking of his brother Frank. Teller and the government screwed Robert over, but he remained a luminary until he died.
