EBR schools look like even more of a shite show, and is proving the St. George folks points.

Rep. Hayes boohooing.
"All schools would be created equal."
Thing ended up a commercial for St. George. This was supposed to be a national show?

What special did you watch? Their signatures have stalled and if you think that special was going to win anyone over to their movement, you're kidding yourself.
I mean, assuming the broken laws stay they way they are and they have infinite time to get all their signatures, they might actually get there eventually. But back in January they expected to reach their goals in a couple of months. Then they said they'd be ready for the November election. Now they say December, but they need the signatures by next month to get on the ballot in December, and the way the rate has stalled, they'll never make that deadline either. But they're so caught up in their own spin, Lionel Rainey won't even admit that their signature drive has slowed down. It's ridiculous.

I'm going to sign up this weekend. That special only highlighted the brokenness of the bussing situation.

Are you watching the town hall meeting now? The St. George posse are making fools of themselves. They're denying the university studies about the budget crisis this would create. They're whining about the special claiming PBS was dishonest.
It's hilarious. Now they're complaining that this is the first time they've all been in the same room, but they're the ones that have been running from public debate about the issue at every turn. Surprise, surprise. They're being exposed for the good ole boys that they are. And people want to trust these people to create a better school system for their kids?

Haha. Yeah, let's just go back to how things were in the 1950's, right? The biggest oversight of the special... they didn't point out that the number of kids being bussed in to the St. George area is incredibly small. That bit of handwaving was allowed to go unchallenged. But they did highlight a St. George proponent saying that BR schools were great in the 60's (i.e., he loves segregated schools).

I just love a good fight. Something's gotta give. Hopefully we'll end up with an independent school system.

That would do wonders. Neighborhood schools need to come back.
It works great for Texas. I may pay higher property taxes than in LA (while not have state income taxes), but I don't have to spend money sending my kid to private school.

1. The deadline for the December election is not next month, its October.
2. The signatures have slowed, but at 17k of 18k needed thats not much of an issue.

Well, there was less testing, so I guess he could hide behind lack of data to justify that claim. Really, there were good schools ad bad schools just like today, but the only really difference is that the black schools were neglected in favor of the white schools.
