Dana Milbank: Another swing and a miss for Obama’s foreign policy

The common theme is the President believes in magic. You actually have to work on building relationships and solving problems.
What is our foreign policy?
How about Mexico? They have a US Marine as a prisoner and we allow them to flood our borders with their poor. The conditions of the prison are abominable according to many sources. The problem with the border aside, this is how they treat American prisoners. It's unbelievable that the President hasn't fought to get this kid out of Mexico.
quote:
The Journal’s catalogue of woes — civil wars in Iraq and Syria, hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians, an electoral crisis in Afghanistan, tension with Russia over Ukraine, floundering nuclear negotiations with Iran and renewed Chinese expansionism — didn’t include the current crisis on the United States’ Southern border.
Could things get any worse? Well, maybe if the president’s chief spokesman claimed that Obama was bringing “tranquility” to the globe — which is what White House press secretary Josh Earnest did at his daily briefing Monday afternoon.
Fox News’s Ed Henry, citing the Journal report, asked for a reaction to “the notion that the president is a bystander in all these crises.”
quote:
Earnest, mentioning the disposal of Syria’s chemical weapons, Secretary of State John Kerry’s mediation of Afghanistan’s electoral dispute and progress in recent negotiations with China, argued that “there have been a number of situations in which you’ve seen this administration intervene in a meaningful way that has .?.?. substantially improved the — you know, the tranquility of the — of the global community.”
Tranquility? Where, in Iceland?
“Did you really believe that this president’s foreign policy has contributed to what you called the ‘tranquility of the global community’?” ABC News’s Jonathan Karl asked.

I do believe that Obama is narcissistic enough that he believed that all it would take to get things done was for him to speak and it would happen.

Obama has a WH Press Secretary named Earnest?
Don't tell me God doesn't have a sense of humor.

I believe this to be an accurate assessment of little barry. There's little doubt he felt he could do away with oil and coal by simply expressing his desire to do so.

Things are really, really bad when even Dana Milbank is turning on the President.

True. Milbank is very hard left wing.

It was going to happen at some point. Obama's tenure could very well be toxic for the next Dem candidate so they're going to have to build some separation between the 2.
