Kind of a spinoff from those DTL threads last week, does anybody remember when that LSU student was murdered in 1999? Her name was Kassie Lynn Federer. Somebody had kicked in her apartment door and started shooting and they never found the killer.

It happened when I went to LSU and since they never solved it, it's always been in the back of my mind.

Here's an old websleuths thread on it: LINK

Another one that freaks me out is Eleanor Parker. Her car was found by the old Goudchaux's in the ghetto. Her clothes were folded and in the trunk.

Just some scary shite to put on the internet, if you weren't freaked out by this kinda shite enough.

I was at LSU during that time although I don't remember that woman getting killed. What a sad situation. A lot of the murders BRPD was trying to attribute to DTL though.

Well, yeah. But when "Gardere" happens, how good are they at ditching a body? Seems like she shoulda turned up somewhere.

Gardere was not what it is now in 1981.

I remember the Eleanor Parker case. I have often wondered if they ever found out what happened to her.

She picked up some winter clothes at her parents on Nov 10, and was last seen driving towards her Gardere apartment. Car was found Nov 18 at her work parking lot, clothes folded in the trunk.

I know forensics was nothing back in the day like it is now, but does anybody re-inspect these cases every now and again? Seems like there might be something with some DNA on it... Maybe. Somewhere.

Kassie just sounds like a random home invasion/murder

She lived in Park Place before it got nicer and a bit safer over there. That all really changed when BREC redid the park and more traffic began to go on around there.

A couple of months ago, I saw this pickup on Airline with some letter stickers on the back window. It read something like "------- murdered my daughter, Kassie Federer, and has never been prosecuted" or something like that. I remember thinking WTF.

Mari Ann Fowler is the most bizarre IMO, particularly when you consider the conspiracy theories that are out there.

Her car was found on North St near North 17 St?

I don't know much about BR in 1981, but that is a place I wouldn't be caught dead in past dark for the past 2 decades.

I'm guessing it was in an employee parking lot for that big department store that used to be around there. Obviously now you wouldn't wanna be anywhere around there, but I don't think it was so bad back then.

It wasn't that bad. Before crack and before a lot of white flight was complete.

Downtown was dying at the time.

Cell phone records put DTL in the area at the time.

I lived off of Gardere from 1982 - 1986. Back then it was all LSU students and young working folks. In about 1987 some of the apartments went section 8. It was all downhill after that.

So at the time the girl was living here it wasn't bad at all.
