Will be caddying for my younger brother over at carter plantation this week on arrowhead tour, can anyone give me some insight as to the course lay out ? We may not be able to get a practice round in due to weather.

Stay below the hole. Roll off the back of the greens and you will surely double bogey.

It's pretty fair and it's mostly all laid out in right in front of you

Not many tricks or anything like that

I seem to remember the par 3's being kind of long, and that's not even from the tips

Nothing else really sticks out to me. I don't play it enough to know it too well

If you hear banjo's coming from the wooded area, be alert, very alert.

The first 7 holes are pretty easy, 8-13 are pretty tough, 14 and 15 are scoring holes, 16-18 are a tough strech to finish. 17 is an island green of sorts. 8,12,16, and 18 are pretty tough.

I have always struggled putting those greens. There is a lot of grain that moves the ball and I can never figure it out.

I like the course. Pretty easy if you keep the ball in fairways and stuff. There are some holes you can get away with bad tee shots and others you can't. 1 is a pretty easy hole just have to get it on the right level. Some Par 5s are long. Just play them smart 3 shot holes.

I would be out there working the tournament this week normally but not gonna be there.

I love the greens out there. Top 3 or 4 favorite greens in the state for me. I don't play a ton of courses though

Yeah, I used to play a pretty decent amount but with school and the marines, I just don't have time. So I'm out here to caddy and keep him from doing anything stupid.

It poured at my house which is like 30mins from carter. Hopefully it didn't rain there.

It's been spotty showers. I'm having issues getting him to understand although he is strong enough to bomb the ball, he needs to place his shots and set up his approaches.

I played out there on the 4th of July. It was my first time on the course. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. If I could give you one tip, it would be practice the hell out of your shot out the sand. They just added like 60 something bunkers is what one of the cart guys told me when I parked (or maybe they have a total of 60. Either way they were everywhere).

Got a great deal for such a nice course. It was around $45 on a holiday. Can't beat that.

2 cart girls driving around the entire time we played. That's a big plus for me. Gotta stay hydrated.

I thought it was somewhat challenging at first, but eventually kicked it into gear. I constantly played out the sand. Some bad shots, as I hadn't played the previous 2 months, and some bad luck (I can pipe a driver and was consistently rolling to far off into sand).

Long par 5's. Very birdie-able par 3s. Some tricky par 4s.

Generally, stay in the fairway and you will set up to the green well if you are good 160-100 out.

Just pick your battles. I had to pull off from going driver on some holes because of the friggin bunkers that are everywhere. Nothing wrong with going 4 iron off the tee box on some of the par 4's to avoid those bunkers. That got me a couple birdies.

I'm a low to mid 80s golfer, FYI. Can't putt for shite.

Good luck.

That's how all kids are. Their mental games are so horrible.

I watched it all the time when working those tournaments

I'm pretty good at keeping the mental side in check with him. I know what you're talking about, the last time I caddied for him, his whole group just shut down after getting rained on at the turn. I was able to get him back on track though.

First 7 holes are fairly straightforward. There's water all along the right side of hole 2 that you can't really see from the tee..

Holes 8 and 9 pretty much suck.

8 is a dogleg right.. approach will be over water that you can't see from the tee.. long iron or 5/3 wood off the tee and you really just need to hit a good shot here.

9 is a slight dogleg left. Water down the left that, again, you can't see from the tee. You can hit driver but the water is reachable if you pull one.

Everything else is pretty straightforward. What you see is what you get. Hole 15 is probably my favorite hole. Par 5. Bomb your drive and catch the downslope and it will roll for days.

ETA: one last thing, stick it close on 14 because that green is retarded.

Yep. That was one of my favorites too. Long straightaway fairway (dogs slightly left) and it's WIDE. I missed left and still was able to land the green in 2 and two-putt for birdie.
