I am looking to join a league in the future in an attempt to be active and shed some pounds. My wife may want to play also so I am also interested in co-ed. Wondering who all has leagues in the area, how competitive they are, what time of the year they play, etc.

TIA

Co-ed isn't bad if you're both beginners. It might be hard for you to find minutes on some of the more competitive men's teams that have been there for a while. I played on Billy and the Jets in men's and had to play my way into the keeper position despite their incumbent being a fat guy who had trouble catching the ball. I mean, it didn't take long but if you're inexperienced it might be harder to find time.

ETA: BREC was the league i played in

We both played in high school. She was an all-parish defender 3 years in a row and I played for a year and eventually became the started at forward. So she has a lot of experience and I have minimal

then she'll probably crush co-ed. if she wants to play i'd go that route cause teams always need good females and it'll be easier for you to find a better team.

BRSA has an open co-ed league as well as an O-30. Open is pretty competitive. Games are @ Burbank, 6:30 Mon/Tue/Wed or Thur. nites. Summer season started about 3 weeks ago {who knows, teams are often short on women so, you might be able to late register as a couple}. Summer consists of 10 games with a BRSA hosted tournament later in July. Winter is only 6 games in Jan/Feb on Sun afternoons.
