I find it very interesting they would put a soldier that likely abandoned his post back to active duty prior to the investigation being completed

quote:

WASHINGTON — Six weeks after being released from five years in Taliban captivity, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is expected to return to life as a regular Army soldier as early as Monday, Defense Department officials said late Sunday.

Sergeant Bergdahl has finished undergoing therapy and counseling at an Army hospital in San Antonio, and will assume a job at the Army North headquarters at the same base, Fort Sam Houston, the officials said.

He is also expected to meet with Maj. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl, the officer who is investigating the circumstances of Sergeant Bergdahl’s disappearance from his outpost in Afghanistan in 2009.

Sergeant Bergdahl’s transfer from the therapy phase to a regular soldier’s job is part of his reintegration into Army life, officials said. He will live in barracks and have two other soldiers help him readjust.

He is being paid for being on active duty. Don't worry, it's not like the Army is going to assign him duties that involve carrying a weapon. He will be assigned some unpleasant menial task that keeps him away from other Army personnel.

He was never off "active duty." He's simply being given something to do while he awaits his court martial. Notice he's at Army NORTHCOM. They're holding him close to the chest at the highest levels.

well, lets just pretend he really didn't desert, because its politically expedient and this way it comes off as we are all friends. Its really special when you think about it!!!

More like Cpl. Downey and Pvt. Dawson will be told to give Bergdahl a "Code Red."

If we're paying the motherfricker, he needs to be on active duty. Like others have said, he won't be put into front line service or anything and I'm sure the Army has plenty of latrines that need service while the investigation gets underway.

If the way the Army deals with malcontents and nonhackers is as I recall, he'll be given every shite detail his superiors can think up while the paperwork is being processed. And that can take a while.

I "know a guy" who got in trouble in Romania for breaking curfew and disobeying an order by being out in a group of less than 4 Marines. One of those 2 Marines, a captain, got into a bar fight and put a guy in the hospital. Both "my buddy" and the captain were flown to Germany to receive non judicial punishment from the General at Marine Forces Europe, which is the exact same level of command as Army Northern Command. My "buddy" was put in charge of relocating the commands gym up 3 flights of stairs. My "buddy" may or may not have taken this job seriously. It's unfortunate that my "buddy" got orders back stateside before he could complete his task.

Put his arse on grass cutting detail with scissors on the side of a dusty road in plain site of AQ. Let's see how he loves them at that point.

The voters put a man more dangerous, worse record and less qualified for President for a second term. Bergdahl, in Obama's mind, deserves a second chance.
How man chances did the Fort Hood terrorist get?

I don't see how this has anything to do with Obama... I just found it curious that he would go back to duty prior to the investigation being completed.

I figured it would be like LEOs and he would be suspended until a formal investigation was completed.
