i wonder if they have a constant ocean breeze.
I could deal with the humidity down here if there was a constant refreshing breeze

I'm guessing that humidity just isn't as much of a factor @ 72 degrees and if the temps rise out there then the moisture goes away?
Or are these humidity readings misleading?

Typically no. So cal has great weather year round

It's pretty dry there. My hair always looks better over there.
The only place that rivals or surpasses the South is Hawaii, IMO.

I'm fully aware of this, but I'm questioning these humidity numbers. I've noticed this numerous times before when perusing the weather app.

Relative humidity % means nothing.
Look at the dew point instead.

Los Angeles is on the coast of this really big fricking body of water called the Pacific Ocean, so it makes sense that the air isn't particularly dry.

That's my point. It's useless to tell me that SoCal has the same humidity as Southern Louisiana if it's not really as humid in colloquial terms.
These weather nerds need to rethink how they be giving out weather stats.
I just want to be told if it's going to be muggy or not.

Looking at the dew point makes more sense.

Here's a link to a heat index calculator LINK
50% RH and 95 F feels much different than 50% RH and 80 F.

Will this work for how much colder 30 degrees feels in the south than it does out west?

Yes. I was in STL earlier this year when it was 2 degrees when I landed. Sat on patio of the hotel for 3 hours drinking beer in a long sleeve t-shirt and fleece Columbia jacket. If you got out in the wind though, that -22 windchill wasn't fun

I lived there for around 8 years and I never thought it was humid!
