I doubt you find free parking but you can usually part (for Texans games) in the hotel parking lots near the stadium. Usually about $20 and it is a short walk.

It all depends on the lot and how far your hotel is from the stadium. The light rail litterally pulls directly onto the grounds, needless to say that is a better option then paying $20 to park a mile away

If you mean free as in $0. It won't happen. You might could park in the Park N Ride on Fannin behind the Sam's Club and ride the Metro Rail for one stop to the stadium.

The Platinum lot opens one hour before the others at 3 PM so you may want to go for that if you want to do more tailgating. I didn't realize that until I got my parking passes mailed to me last month.

Well the game is at 8, so you should have more than 2 hours if you get there at 4.

Wow. Hello ghetto. I wouldn't park there for 5 hours if you paid me to.

That's south Houston for you. There isn't much within a reasonable distance of the stadium that's "Decent". The Park and Ride itself seems ok but yes the surrounding area is sketch. Parking near Med Center, Herrman Park or Rice would be fine and just catch the train. Just avoid parking near the Wheeler Station and the Greyhound station and you should be fine. I fully intend on starting at Flying Saucer and ride the train on down.

These aren't bad suggestions. I would lean North of Reliant as opposed to heading further South below the loop.

Fannin Park and Ride behind Sam's Club is the end of the line anyway. I just wish the Purple Line would be open in time but it's not looking likely. The signage is all up and the landscaping looks done but I don't have my hopes up. I'd prefer to start my bar hopping at Lucky's Pub or Woodrows EaDo.

I know this is an old thread, but were you planning to park at the flying saucer. I've never been there. I don't mind leaving the car at the restaurant, but it looks tough to park there too. I'm just not familiar with parking around Houston. I usually park at the hotel and drive to places where I can park.

Just read this on the Advocare Texas Kickoff website

"All Parking lots (unless otherwise noted) will open six hours prior to kickoff."
