A pair of Democratic senators introduced legislation Wednesday that would overturn a recent Supreme Court ruling that defended the rights of private for-profit employers to opt out of providing insurance coverage for abortifacient drugs on religious grounds.

Sens. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Mark Udall (D-CO) held a press conference Wednesday morning to announce the introduction of the bill, dubbed the “Protect Women's Health From Corporate Interference Act.” The bill would force for-profit employers to comply with the Obamacare birth control mandate, which requires business owners to provide employees and dependents with full, co-pay-free coverage for contraception, sterilization and abortion-causing drugs, regardless of their religious objections.

I love bills that are named the complete opposite of what they are.

More accurately, the bill should be called the "Ensure Corporate involvement in women's health act". But, well.........LOL

I doubt Harry Reed would ever allow that to come up for a vote with so many red state Democratic Senators up for reelection this year.

how can they do that? Does it override the law containing RFRA and if brought to the SCOTUS will it just be beat down for the same reason they are making it?

It is amazing the only place where freedom exists to Democrats is a vagina.

I know. How can you call it "protection from corporations", when IT IS CORPORATIONS WHO ARE GIVING THE HEALTH INSURANCE.

They're like petulant children.

If they really wanted to fix this, they would draft legislation undoing RFRA and thus making it stick. You know, like what republicans try to do with repealing ObamaCare.

Lulz.

The corporation is the one way paying for the "women's health". That's corporate interference so they better ban corporations from paying for healthcare then.

Well at least this is an actual law and not an edict from HHS.

I mean, they're trying to make it look like a law. It's really just an attempt to continue the "war on wimmens" leitmotif. It's almost all the Dems have left.
