I am in the mood to play the new pokemon game, and with a break in school coming up, now is the perfect time. Pokémon x or y is really the only game I want to play, so I want to pay the least amount possible for the 3ds. Thanks in advance, gents.

I would look on ebay, amazon marketplace, etc... and get a refurbished 3ds. Make you you get the XL version though, the extra size is well worth it.

If you're only going to play Pokémon get a 2DS.

I plan on getting a 3ds soon as well. Lots of good games on it

Plus Nintendo has said they want to make some games cross platform between the 3ds and wii U. Similar to the ps3 and vita

Developers have the ability to do it now. I saw one the other day chose to, can't remember which one. People also mention Sony in this a lot but not every one of those is cross platform either, they just do it more often.

Exactly, and I don't really see them changing considering only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo consoles.

Yea I don't see it happening much with the 3ds, maybe a handful of games but not many.

However Nintendos next handheld they develop will made more to cross platform between it and the Wii U I'm sure. Since they merged their handheld and console development departments this appears to be the way they're going.

All I want to play on my 3ds is Earthbound, but I guess it'll just remain on the WiiU platform.
