In my opinion (in order from best to worst):

Time Bandits
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Brazil
The Fisher King
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Meaning of Life
Twelve Monkeys

Everything done from The Brothers Grimm to the present, in my opinion, has been subpar. Terry Gilliam most definitely hasn't become a better director with age.

This does not get them an extra goal. Poor guys.

You Terry Gilliam-d your own thread. And Brazil is clearly Gilliam's best film. I don't really think it's close.

Also, Twelve Monkeys last?

I'd put Brazil on my list twice as well. 1st and 2nd. What a great damn movie.

Brazil and 12 Monkeys and the rest aren't close

I've seen all but one, Time Bandits

Baron - one of my top ten favorites - heard it was a bitch to make, but is spectacular. Some of the best special effects . . . ever. A young Uma Thurmond is downright beautiful coming out of the shell.

Holy Grail
Brazil
12 Monkeys
Time Bandits

That's about it.

I would rank them:

Brazil
Holy Grail
Time Bandits
Twelve Monkeys
Baron Munchausen
The Fisher King
And Now for Something Completely Different
The Meaning of Life

The others I didn't like and did not see Tideland. Brazil and Holy Grail are both comedy masterpieces but the others, especially my 3-5, make him easily one of the most imaginative directors ever.

Did he direct Life of Brian? Because that is one of my top 5 movies of all time. Always look on the bright side of life...

Yep. On my GOAT list in the top tier.

Holy Grail really isn't a Gilliam movie though he does get partial credit. My favorite comedy but Brazil is a better movie.

After Brazil:

Twelve Monkeys
Time Bandits
The Fisher King

No, that was Terry Jones who co-directed Holy Grail with Gilliam. After Holy Grail Terry Jones took over all the directing duties for the Pythons.

Baron Munchausen may be his best effort.

IMO...anyone who mentions Twelve Monkeys above Time Bandits and Baron Munchausen hasn't seen both of those movies and therefore doesn't know what he's talking about.

Always chuckle at the mean spirited ending to Time Bandits.

I wonder if they could make a movie like that today.
