This is a radio news report so cannot link. La. has the fewest females in state leg. From memory I'm gonna say we've got 110 total in the leg and 15 are women.

Then they ask the female poli sci prof why? She says women aren't good at raising money and promoting themselves. OK, I can buy that.

But then she says 'it's important that we encourage more women to run for office.'

My question: Why is it important?

I think it's important to discourage them from running for office. Name one woman, dem or rep, who held office and isn't batshit crazy.

Palin, Hillary, Debbie wasserman, Feinstein, Pelosi, Elizabeth warren, etc etc.

Then apparently they asked an ignorant poli sci professor. Women win just as often as men WHEN they run for office. They just don't run as often.

Why don't they run? Plenty of speculative answers:
1. other stuff to do
2. don't want the stink of politics on them
3. not as ambitious/aggressive
4. Don't want to expose family to political spot light/takes time away from family

I am not saying those are true, just popular theories.

I'd say Gov. Haley of South Carolina seems pretty on the level.

Condi never ran for office.
I recall Eliz Dole pissing me off but I can't recall the specific issue.

This thread will be full of misogynistic statements by posters who nevertheless cant figure out why conservatives have trouble appealing to women.
