My parents have a chance to get their foot in the door and get season tickets in a couple hours. I know it's late and there really isn't anything good available.

That being said is it best to go ahead and get tickets and upgrade as they become available or just wait for the next opportunity to purchase tickets?

TIA

If you want them I would buy them
You can always not renew next year if something better comes along

It really doesn't matter, getting season tickets this year doesn't really help your chance next year.

well thats kinda false. The benefit to having them is you are paying into the donation and you get points per $1,000. Unless you want to make donations on the side before getting tix, meaning upping your ranking, getting them now is a good option

Thanks for the help.

No clue where they would be, I guess I was just trying to see if there was an advantage to getting them no as opposed to later.

Incorrect. The points you get for the required seat donation are not philanthropic points, thus do not go toward your philanthropic ranking which is used to determine new season tickets and seat upgrades. The priority points they get for required seat donations are used for determination of away game and bowl game tickets.

If you want them and will use them, get them. If they're in the upper deck don't expect to make any money off of them if you can't make a game. It's nice have guaranteed tickets and also season ticket holders get first dibs on road game and bowl game tickets. If you're not picky about seats, the only game that will even sniff face value is Alabama. So you'd save a lot of money buying tickets on the street for games not named Alabama and then use the money you "saved" to pay the market value of that game.

LSU TAF

quote:

From Link
quote:

1 pt. Awarded for each $1,000 donated to a TAF Annual Ticket Fund, approved LSU Coaches’ Accounts, LSU Tradition Fund, and other non-profit organizations approved by TAF

My statement
quote:

well thats kinda false. The benefit to having them is you are paying into the donation and you get points per $1,000

How am I incorrect? Any where in the world did I say that the points would be philanthropic???

So lets look at the points system shall we...

quote:

Lifetime Ranking

Lifetime giving points include all donations made to TAF philanthropic projects and ticket surcharges, these points are used to assign away game tickets and bowl tickets.

quote:

Philanthropic Ranking

Philanthropic points are based only on donations made to philanthropic projects (see the bar on the left side of the page for full listing) and are used to assign new tickets and parking as well as upgrades to these items

seems to me that 1) he would get a benefit from having an account and paying into the system and 2) he can worry about upgrading another day.

but thanks for playing boys

Because you responded to the following comment:
"getting season tickets this year doesn't really help your chance next year," with this commment: "thats kinda false."

Your comment is incorrect. Getting season tickets this year, and thus the lifetime points associated with them in no way helps your chance next year of getting season tickets b/c the points are not philanthropic. That poster's statement was absolutely correct. You said his statement was false. You are wrong.

but thanks for playing.

Get the tickets this year and see how you like them. Keep donating to TAF to upgrade.
