Starting offshore next week. How's the life on the rig?

I worked offshore in 07-08. I didn't mind it. Time went by faster tha. Land jobs in my opinion. Be prepared for mud weight in and mud weight out every 15 min. Gets a little annoying.

I had a chance to go do eagle ford work but like it up here in cooler temps. Plus just started a new relationship and Jodie doesn't make his way this far north.

I prefer land work. Offshore can be pretty boring. If you get on a nicer rig they'll have a gym and (relatively) good food; be prepared for golden corral-level chow on lower end rigs. Higher stress environment offshore compared to land. Rigging up is more of a pain in the Gulf as well.

I've been working north of BR for the last couple of years. It's hard to beat for me; go home every night and during any downtime, which you'll see plenty of working directional.

Very much dependent on the rig. Some are much better than others. But you get used to it

They said I'll be on the deep sea rigs which apparently are the nicer ones. But I'm just gaining experience by mudlogging so the company I'm working for just hired on 5 other geology degrees along with me

fricking sucks as far as I'm concerned. It's not as bad if you're on a drillship or floater with 2 man rooms. It's terrible on most jackups and TLPs. I felt like a prisoner out there. I'm on land now and like it much better. Went shopping at Gander Mountain and Cavenders yesterday while things were slow. frick offshore.

If you're talking about the discoverer deep seas, I'm here now. It's nice.
