I guess it depends on if you're deaf or not.

What if you are watching something in a foreign language, tuba?
It's like you don't think sometimes.

Oh right its another big government conspiracy to support illegal immigration right? Deaf people all have charities that add close captioning to any video they want for free there's absolutely no call for this regulation
Edit I said big government regulation to support illegal immigration without laughing

Isn't that called subtitles?

Not true. Close captioning is also intended to help the hard of hearing and it can help the illiterate to learn to read. Its therefore useful to the vast majority of posters on the political board.

Now that made me laugh.

I guess. I always figured close captioning was supposed to reproduce the words that were actually spoken. I, too, need to brush up on my CC vs subtitles knowledge. We can do it together!

Doubt you'll like the crap I watch.

What we really need on here is a sarcasm font though. Would make delineating funny comments from serious insanity much easier.

Probably no constitutional implications because it's commercial speech not core political.

You might be surprised.
People often don't watch the entertainment you'd pick them for. I know I was surprised as heck when my Romanian friend and her California husband confessed to having seen every episode of Walker Texas Ranger.

Why? No one makes any serious comments. So we already knew which ones are the serious ones.

This isn't really news, BTW.
Its been required on TV since the 90's and the internet rule went into effect a few years ago.

I watch everything with CC on. I've got hearing issues from when I blew an air-horn into my ear as a kid.

Didn't think so.

It seems like the FCC is looking at requiring any video to have CC. Couldn't that hinder bloggers and independent news folks from disseminating breaking stories?
