I recently noticed that the license for my boat trailer is gone, so I'm trying to get some some info on replacement.

I've been to the OMV twice but couldn't afford to wait as long as necessary. I called the OMV main line and was on hold for 15 minutes before I regrettably had to hang up. I've searched searched for answers on the OMV website and got nothing.

I need to know the following:

Where/how do I get it replaced (online, OMV office, 3rd party title service, etc.)?

How much does it cost?

How long does it take to to arrive? What do I do in the interim?

I've got the registration which references the VIN, so if I was stopped by a police officer, I hope that will suffice.

Your location says Houston, so assuming you live in Texas...

On the txdmv.gov site, there is an option for license plates. Under that option is "replacement license plates".

There is a form for you to print and fill out. It costs $7, and needs to be taken to the local county tac assessor - collectors office.

There is a box on the bottom of the form for the assessor to fill out, Im sure with a copy of the document, you can use that to provide proof of ownership, and that you have submitted for new plates if you happen to get pulled over.
