Looking for recommendations for someone to intall a new liner in my 4 year old pool. Prairieville area. The original liner tore at a seam and Latham Liners is replacing it at a large discount. Labor is on me so I need someone who is reliable and will stand behind their work.

it's actually pretty easy to install yourself, or if you know someone who is a decent handyman, and you can help, takes two people

I'm reluctant to even consider liners because of this - some last 12, 14 years (and in rare cases, longer), some fail at 4 or 5 and this doesn't necessarily mean abuse or neglect. 7 to 10 is fairly typical and with a typical liner being about $2k (give or take) 10 years isn't terrible, but 4 years is.

Yep. The seam failed, which happens once in a while. That's why the liner company is paying the majority of the cost.

I built that type of pool at my parents house when I was in high school. The liner was supposed to last 20-25 yrs. I changed the first one after 10 yrs., and the second after another 10.

Having owned a liner pool - I will never own another.
You can never let water get behind the liner or it will float. When the water gets absorbed by the ground and the liner goes back down, good luck getting the liner smooth again.
When Katrina hit and knocked the power out to where I couldn't drain the pool with the pump, pool over flowed. New liner.
Gustav hit, drained the pool beforehand but it rained so much, water got in behind the liner from the wet ground. Put in a new liner for that to sell the house.
Too late for the OP but never install a liner pool.

I battle those same problems all the time. I have a dedicated drain line behind the liner and it helps quite a bit. So you installed a new liner at least twice, so to answer my question...who did you use? Or did you do it yourself?

I live in Prairieville and had my liner done last week by Brian Keith. He does excellent work and is very knowledgeable . The pool looks fantastic. Brian lives out here.

Thanks. New construction or just a new liner? If new liner, mind if I ask how much he charges?

you can also use a combination of concrete, plaster, or something like gunite, or diamondbrite, and do away with the liner

Just a new liner. I'll never use anyone else again . He has been doing liners and repair since 1982. He knows how to treat people. My liner ran right at three.

Brian MacGowan (Brian's Pools) does a few in my neighborhood (P'ville). Good guy, a lot cheaper than the pool companies around here.

This is who we are going to use.

3 for the liner and installation, I assume. I'm just pricing installation. Liner is paid for. That would put him around $800 or so for labor only?

Who measured for the liner you bought? Was the pool drained when measured

It's an exact replacement made through the liner company. I provided the serial number from the original liner. They had all the old info on file.

When I was in the wholesale business Latham had field reps that call on the installers and the wholesales like SCP. If your having a hard time finding a good installer ask Latham to speak to the rep and he will know who does a good job and who to recommend you to.
It used to be a guy named Tony G but that was several years ago.
Also most pool guys even the repair ones can do it, but the Latham rep will know who does a good job and stand behind there work.
