Can a Falcons fan please explain to me why?

This has to be the most ridiculous salary I have ever seen for an athlete

JaMarcus Russell disagrees

and the Yankees could be paying a 41 year old A-Rod as much as $50 million

Best thing the devil ever did was convincing people he doesn't exist.

Kind of mirrors this situation.

This. He catches a lot of flak. But he is the best QB in the history of our franchise. And his Oline couldnt block Tucker High's DLine. Its literally a 2 count and hes getting hit.

Definitely overpaid but the market has gone way up for QBs. So that contract is not as bad now

Only Saints fans make these dumb comments. He's a very competent, but not elite, QB. That's how much you have to pay for a very good QB in the NFL.

He has a ridiculous amount of game winning drives. Ryan gets way too much shite. He has a God awful o-line snd a terrible defense.

He torched the 49ers until his defense decided to quit

The list of QB's that are much better that make less is extensive
And of course it's not only saints fans that make these "dumb" comments, it's absolutely true
His salary compared to elite QB's is absurd

No, no it isn't.

It was really simple. The Falcons at the time were very much in the Super Bowl contention conversation, and Matt Ryan was coming up on the end of his contract. The Falcons made the "smart" move, by extending him prior to him potentially winning the superbowl. Had they waited, and if the Falcons had won the Superbowl, you likely would not be seeing Matt Ryan in a Falcons uniform because the cost to sign him would have been insanely high.

All of this is now hindsight. However, given the situation they were in, I believe the Falcons made the right decision.

Your theory is correct, but there comes a point where the franchise is getting fleeced.

He's not worth $20.75Mil today. There are far more franchise QB's in the league today than 5 years ago. Its harder now to name teams that dont have franchise Qb's. If Ryan would walk for anything less that $20 mil (which he would never walk), then he's being ridiculous.
