In Mississippi for training with the USAF and have a friend who is willing to sell me her registered 1 year old English bulldog pup for a great deal. I've met the pup and she's beautiful but my friend has a new baby so wants the dog to go to me knowing she'll be in a good home.

Problem is that in a week and a half I'm heading back to Alaska and Delta, United, nor American airlines ship English bulldog pups over 6 months old.

How do people with this breed of dog travel? Any of you have experience with this?

Is it possible to get this pup back to Alaska with me via air?

It is one hell of a trip though. When I moved to Alaska initially we drove up. Amazing trip.

Sounds like a great journey of self discovery with you and a new friend. Take a week of leave and see North America.

It's the shite.

ETA: I hadn't seen that you'd already done it. Worth it?

So. Here's the thing about bullies. They are horrible in heat and will heat stroke out quick. Read up on people's dogs dying because they got left sitting out on the Tarmac before you decide to do this. I lost Winston to heat stroke because of my stupid ex wife and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I've driven from Va Beach to Seattle and up through Vancouver to Victoria. It was absolutely beautiful in March. And I only got 1 ticket (100 in a 75 in Wyoming). It was only like $110 back in 2007. Driving to Alaska is on the near-term bucket list.

Stretched it out over thirteen days. Awesome trip.

Didn't get any tickets. In the rural parts of Canada you'll go hours without seeing a car at all, much less a cop! lol

Super bummed about the situation though. I have been wanting a English Bully for so long but can't make myself drop the $2500-3000 that the breeders are asking for a puppy.

I finally have a beautiful one fall into my lap for less than a thousand and can't get her home.

what part of mississippi you in?....

and to answer your question...have you thoght about checking the price on a hotshot service driving it over for you?...of course, it would be expensive, but maybe not what you would spend on a dog if you bought one...

hell, if I were still in college and had summers off, I would drive it over just for the experience if you paid my gas and hotel....

I thought about it but figured I'd spend more getting her there than I would buying her.

If she is small enough to fit in a small carrier in the cabin with you, they should allow it.

Bulldogs are one of those breeds that love to die in the air.

Here is someone in the security line with their dog on a flight back from John Wayne International..

The carrier and dog for under the seat in front of them.

Yea I'm down here on TDY. The northshore was home for me before I enlisted and was stationed in Anchorage. I finish up my training course tomorrow and have a week or so to visit and hang out before flying back.

I wish she was small enough to fit under seat, but she's just under a year old and too big
