If you are a sub in a WC match, can someone sub in for you?

I ask because of the speculation regarding Altidore. I've seen people discuss the risk of bringing him in as a sub if he can't finish the game, so I assume that he could not be subbed out once he comes in the game?

Thanks for the clarification. I've seen people say that we would be playing 10 on 11 if he subbed in and couldn't finish, so I was was a bit confused.

While we're discussing subs, can a guy re-enter?

After he is subbed and there are no remaining subs no.
If he just goes off for injury and is not subbed, then yes.

I don't think you can sub in a subbed player, Granted i have not seen this happen or why it really would.
You could play a man down if you just wanted to give him a break.

Would you advocate a 3 man sub limit for high school soccer?

High school has open substitutions. I would advocate some type of limits on subs but no way the 3 subs per game limit.

There is more to life as a soccer nation than developing kids to become professionals.

The no re-entry rule is creeping into younger ranks. In competitive club soccer at the regional level, you cant re-enter in the same half. They also limited the # of subs but its like 7 per half (which is not very limiting ). Louisiana is also one of the last states to start aligning their competitive rules to mirror regional, national, fifa.
