Of the 128 schools to play at the FBS level this season, more than 40 percent have made at least one move over the past decade.

That figure doesn't even include the shake-ups of the mid-to-late 1990s that produced the Big 12, Conference USA and the Mountain West.

I always thought that Notre Dame would have wound up in the Big 10 when the dust settled. Also, WTF is with Idaho in the Sun Belt?

The WAC stopped sponsoring football starting last year (2013) after losing most of their football members. Idaho and New Mexico State were the leftovers, and they competed as independents last year before joining the Sun Belt for football only.

ETA: New Mexico State is still in the WAC for everything else, but Idaho moved to the Big Sky.

Bad blood exists between Notre Dame and a few B1G teams, namely the Michigan schools. The hierarchy of the Big Ten has always acted as if it was in Notre Dame's best interests to be in the B1G, rather than the other way around.

As a result, the B1G burned their bridges permanently. I once had a big-time ND booster tell me, in all seriousness, that he would rather see Notre Dame STOP PLAYING FOOTBALL than join the B1G. And he stated that many Notre Dame fans feel the same way.

I believed him.

Notre Dame really has more in common with the ACC than the B1G (except for location) anyway, it's a better fit for their non-football sports. Interesting note: With all this realignment, all of the Big 5 conference names are now inaccurate in some way.

Atlantic Coast Conference: Members in Kentucky and Indiana.
Big Ten Conference: Has 14 members.
Big 12 Conference: Has 10 members.
Pacific-12 Conference: Members in Colorado, Utah and Arizona. At least they got the number right.
Southeastern Conference: Member in Missouri.

A great day for Louisville, perhaps the biggest thing to ever happen to the University. While the ACC may not be the best football league in the land, it is a major step up in class for us. UofL is making a big deal about it as ACC Commissioner Swofford will speak today along with our AD Tom Jurich in a morning press conference. There is also going to be a pep rally for the fans in the afternoon.

Jennifer Lawrence did a promo yesterday

Also here were some pictures from yesterday when the ACC Mascots were in downtown touring the city of Louisville

I remember seeing those mascot pictures last year, they were messing with the Maryland mascot. I know UofL has a strong athletics department, I'm sure you'll fit right in. Exciting times for Cards fans, and from a native North Carolinian, welcome to the ACC!

Once the playoff structure is in place for a couple of years, the BIG 12 will see that they need a championship game to strengthen their league's chances of making it to the 4 team playoff. The selection committee has already stated that this will be a heavy factor. In a few years the BIG 12 will have to expand IMO. They have options, they just need to be willing to accept a couple of outsiders. To name a few options:

Cincinnati
BYU
Boise St
Utah St
Houston
New Mexico

Also, football is king in collegiate athletics. With that in mind, there is no way UConn is going to let their brand sit in a conference with (in all due respect) ECU, Tulsa ect ect. UConn will eventually be in the B1G or the ACC. They understand the $$$ of all of this. They are losing millions by being in the AAC. Now that Louisville is in the ACC, you can bet your arse that UConn is actively looking for a new home.

I feel like UConn would be a good fit for the Big Ten, myself. They aren't AAU, but they're still a very good school. They have a beautiful campus, great basketball program, and is an infinitely better athletic program than Rutgers. Of course there's the problem with Connecticut not bordering a Big Ten state, and I don't see Syracuse leaving the ACC so... yeah. I guess I wasted a post here

The Big 10 continuously deluding their conference with bad football programs is going to come back to bite them in the arse.

That's a stretch

I've been to Storrs for football games and that campus wasn't impressive IMO. Also, why is there football stadium 30 minutes away from campus?

The Big Ten has come to my neighborhood. Big signs on the New Jersey Turnpike. Big ten RU ready?

I guess there will develop a rivalry between Rutgers, Maryland and Penn State in some sports. For those who don't know, New Jersey and Maryland separated by 15 miles of Delaware.

Not an official by-law of the B1G Conference, its more of a desired requirement than anything else. The B1G could certainly add UConn.

UConn owns that state. Population, TV sets.

They are still on the outside looking in. I can see Boston College keeping them out of the ACC.
