I wanted to get some recommendations on some contractors in the Baton Rouge area to repair some boards/wood around my house. I have about 5 to 6 boards that needs to be replaced. Any recommendation out there? Thanks!

I have heard of some in Baton Rouge.

Not being a jerk, but a contractor has zero interest in that job. If you're lucky, some handy mam might do it, but that's a tiny job that isn't worth anybody with skills and other jobs time.

So he should let his house rot, or go to the labor pool, or move?

Just go find a Mexican at Home Depot. Seriously. They'll do that shite. No one else will.

And get the Mexican to do what, cook for him?

If he's incapable of replacing 5 or 6 boards, and doesn't have a friend who can help in exchange for a 6 pack, yes. It's like asking for recommendations for doctors who would do a good job trimming a few of his toe nails because they're too long or something.

An able-bodied man shouldn't have to have another man do simple repairs around the house like changing out boards

Or maybe he can afford to have someone else do it.

But no contractor would do it.
And he found a Mexican to cook for him.
So, he's eating better, but still in a broken home.

OP is probably thinking a sub is going to drive out and fix this for a couple hundred dollars. You'll find a guy on Craigslist to do it, but not one that's insured.

Better get yourself a good handy man, contractor won't touch this. Good luck

Exactly. Then when you have issues that guy from Craigslist is already back working turnarounds because he couldn't make it as a handyman so you have to pay someone else to come fix it again.

Who says he's able bodied? This guy could be 65. Let him ask his questions.

No contractor worth his salt is going to waste his time on such a small job. You're either going to get some ridiculously high estimate by someone who doesn't want to do the work, some ridiculously long wait before they can start on it, or someone who's going to stiff you entirely and do a poor job.
Hiring a Mexican at Home Depot really is the most sensible option if you really don't have the time/expertise to do this job yourself.
