my wife and I both had our own dogs before we got married. I have an 80 lb american bulldog and she has a 40lb yellow lab. the dogs have lived together for over 2 years now but only recently have they began fighting. each time the bulldog is the aggressor and this weekend while we were out of town our house sitter called and said the bulldog rushed the lab, grabbed it by the throat and thrashed it against the wall several times but didnt let go for a while. finally the yellow lab got a hold of the bulldogs leg bad enough for her to let go.
they are both at the vet both needed surgery. I'm scrambling to find a new home for the bulldog but I am not having any luck. I'm running out of options and my wife doesn't want the bulldog back in the house.
The vet said they can board her until I find her a new place but thats going to be very expensive.
I'm looking for options. ive called all the shelters and they all say they are over crowded.
help?

There was some lady in Slidell that has a bulldog rescue. I imagine she will take him/her. I found out about her because my English bulldog that someone have me was aggressive. I ended up giving the dog to a dog trainer to live with but an English bulldog is probably easier to get rid of. Post an ad on Craigslist but be prepared to filter through a lot of dirtbags.

Sorry to hear you have to get rid of your dog.
If it was my dog and I liked him, I'd try to find him a place for a little while and if it didn't work I'd have him put down. I hate dog pounds and I wouldn't subject him to a few weeks of living in that shithole for 3 weeks before being put down anyway.

Get rid of both dogs. Best solution for both of you.

What did you expect with a bulldog?

Keep the wife happy.
If you're in BR, Bring the dog to CAAWS near Jefferson and Pecue until the dog gets adopted. They have adoption days every Saturday. You can drop off the dog on Saturday morning, and pic it up around 5:00.
