Just got back from shooting and I have some questions about it.

1) Will the magazine spring loosen up? This thing is a dog to load full.

2) What kind of accuracy should I be expecting? I'm used to long barreled revolvers and hitting a can at 30 yards is usually pretty easy. It was taking me 5-6 shots to hit them at that range with this thing. Should I expect that to get better with practice or is that about as good as it gets for most people? I put 100 through it.

3) Do I need to put any kind of grease on the slide anywhere or is a light coat of regular gun oil good?

4) where can I buy another 8 round clipazine?

5) holster recommendations just to keep it in when I have it bouncing around in the dry box on the boat?

Nope, mine is a bitch, too

I got a lot better after I sent mine to APEX and let them put a new trigger in it

Nothing special, just routine maintenance should be fine

Ferrara in BR has several, Cabelas does too IIRC

I have a question for you. Why didn't you buy a CZ?

Thanks. My thumb is shot.

How much difference did the trigger make?

Wish they had it in 357sig. I'm assuming this thing can eat +p ammo?

I didn't see anything in the manual about grease. Just was curious if that was something you plastic gun users did.

Is there a bigger safety lever available? That SOB is tiny.

uplula or whatever you call those speed reloads, I have no shame

Its like a 1911 trigger now, 4lbs I think. I love it. Its expensive if you send it to Cali for them to do, but I think they sell it online and you can put it in yourself. Thats a bapple question, but I know Tim from Military Arms and others have stood on mountaintops stating that APEX upgrades are a necessity with their M&Ps.

I wouldn't target shoot with that stuff, but yea, it runs it no problem. My carry ammo is Speer +P

I wish there was an option to remove it, but no, not to my knowledge.

Nice gun. I have shot maybe 100rds out of one, and have only gotten 4" groups at 8 yards. Smaller guns just take some getting used to, but you'll definitely get there with practice. Keep in mind that it isn't a 30 yard shooting gun. It is made for close quarters, and you should probably just practice out to 20 yards max. Anymore with that gun, and you're just wasting ammo.

The more you load and unload that mag, the weaker the spring will become. I have about 3000 rounds out of 2 PPQ mags, and am definitely needing some new ones now

As a gun, I really like the 9mm Shield, and will probably be getting either that or a P226 as my next pistol

Im not sure if the trigger bothers me enough to dick with it. I'll shoot it again later this week and decide.

I like the gun and I'm not really upset about the accuracy (or lack of). I realize shooting cans at 30 yards is absolutely not what this thing is made for and not what I bought if for anyway. I hit them pretty much every shot at 10.

I do need to find some good +p SD ammo. I just got Speer gold dot for now because it's all I'm familiar with.

I don't know much about 9mm ammo, especially short barrel stuff.

With my plastic pistol, I just clean it up with Hoppe's after every 500 rounds and put one drop of oil on the four parts where the slide touches the frame. I also put a drop by the hammer and one down in the trigger mechanism.

After 100rds, I'd just wipe it down if anything

I ran 100 rounds of absolute junk through it. It was pretty damned nasty.

Fwiw, when I took my CCW course, they recommended Spear Gold Dot. I took mine with The BRPD squat team. He said that's about the best. That's what I have in mine.

I liked them well enough out of my .357 and that's why I bought them. I see they make a +p load. Probably gonna go with that after I shoot some.

Shouldn't +p be more reliable (all else equal) because of higher slide speed? I'm new to this whole semi auto thing.

I'm not sure about more reliable, but its more wear and tear on the weapon the more you use them. Of course, you will probably never fire enough to really make a difference, but its still a possibility.

You certainly do need to run several rounds of whatever ammo you decide to carry for SD through the pistol, just to ensure the weapon does cycle them efficiently.

I'm as new as you are.

I just got what the SWAT guy told me that he carries in his for home defense. That's all I've got, sorry.

I shoot PMC Bronze for target. I've ran about 200 rounds of it through my 380. I haven't shot much of the spear gold dot through it yet. That's what I keep it loaded with for CC.

Eta: and I just got the 9mm. I've only shot it once with shite ammo. It's loaded with gold dot for home defense as well. I'm going shoot it next weekend though.

I shot a dozen of them to leave myself a full clipazine.

One of my friends was shooting his .40 m&p and it jammed about 5 times. Pretty depressing to see that.

200 rounds through mine, mag-spring still stiff as hell...

CC IWB holster recommendations?

Edit: btw, 1 failure to eject and 1 jam in first 200 rounds at range with crappy brass target rounds. Love the gun though. Great investment, excited about my CHL.

I'm fearful of my gun jamming. I hope that I never have to use it outside of the range. I'm comfortable with my 380. I'll CC the 9mm once I get more comfortable handling it.

Right now I CC my 380, 9mm on the night stand, my .22 rifle was stolen a couple of weeks ago(I've never shot it). Ex boyfriend went psycho on me. It's amazing how safe I feel. I'm not BSing with his arse.

But FTW, my brother just got an SKS and he is going to let me shoot it next weekend. I'm as giddy as a kid at Christmas.

I'm new to this gun thing, but thanks to my brother and his friends and my CCW course I'm very comfortable with a gun now.

Honestly I'm not sure how many rounds it will take to convince me to not worry about it jamming.

I wrestled between this and a small revolver for a long time. Not sure what finally made me go with the shield. I guess it was the 2 extra rounds and very wide ammo options. If it ever jams I'm going to be one very depressed owner.
