Auto mechanics: interior dome light going on and off while car is off

My wife and I were out running errands tonight and as we pull up to our house, I notice her interior dome light is on. My first thought was I left it on earlier for some reason. Then I thought somebody might have gotten into it. Turns out, the light was turning on and slowly flickering on and off then turning off completely.
Is this a sign that the bulb needs to be replaced? Seems odd, if so because I've never had to replace a dome light.
Any help is appreciated.

sounds to me like the dome light was left on and there is some problem that keeps it from burning constantly (i.e. burning out bulb, bad switch, etc.)....
ETA: is this the only interior light that comes on when the doors are opened, or are there more that are working correctly?...

fwiw, if I remember right, the door switches are set up to close the ground when the door is open...with that in mind, a defective door switch would cause the light to come on when not supposed to...

i had that happen one time and i had to have an electrical wire replaced.

i think the guy charged around 120 or so but it took like 2 days before he found what the actual problem was. i took it to a couple of others and they couldnt figure it out, but my interior light would just come on in the middle of the night so it kept killing my battery.

Door switch loose. Mine is sticking in my Tahoe, and the radio won't turn off sometimes when I get out
