Exactly what the title says.
Microsoft is killing off the surface brand for the Lumia brand and attempting to License Nokia for their smartphones

When are the Lumia's finally going to get the new update with Cortana? When are they finally going to develop apps for WP? I'm so tired of every app being available for iOS and Android

Uh so basically the "Surface" will still be around, but just renamed? No way they actually just nix it after it basically becoming a flagship item for them

Lumina has a better name recognition than Surface? I call bs. Surface 3 is the tits!

I see. I suppose that sort of makes sense, sort of like having googles phones and tablets under the Nexus line. It will also allow them to distance the Surface Pro 3 (which seems to have promise) from RT name-wise.

The problem with the Surface brand is they used it for both the pro line, which was good, and the RT line, which has been a big failure and single handedly dragged the brand down.

I love my original surface and the surface 3's are insanely good. This seems like an odd move, but hey, it's microsoft.
