Does it get repetitive and boring by the end or does it just lack replayability? I don't usually care much about the latter, but if it just gets boring after a couple hours I don't want to waste my time

Yes, both. The climax of the game came way too early with Homicide, then the game just gets boring and lacks depth. The cars are painfully slow, if you are used to GTA.

I love that genre, L.A. Confidential being one of my favorite movies, so that's probably why it gets a pass from me. I like the investigative part, but it did get repetitive. Never finished but I hear it's not much of a payoff. I can play it, but I get the hate.

I've debated it for a long time. It's always on sale tho.

Might try to get a crew together for that Ace of Spades when it goes on sale again. Too late now but next time it goes on sale. For $3 it looks like a good time with a group of buddies

I loved it but

Is pretty accurate unfortunately. I still liked it enough to play all the way through and even started it again a year or two later, but yeah they set the game up completely backwards.

It was a cool game and it was fun solving mysteries, but it got repetitive and it could be very slow at times. I like how they recreated LA though, very cool. My favorite was going to the La Brea tar pits.

It lacks playability. One of the worst games in history.

They spent years recreating Los Angeles and it's just a bunch of shop faces. You can't interact with any of it, you can just drive or walk past it. Why go to all the trouble of remaking LA if it's just a backdrop?

No matter how you investigated a crime, you were always led to the same conclusion. I was excited when this game came out because people were talking about the facial recognition bullshite and how you had to detect if people were lying. What a fricking crock. You can get every question wrong and still beat the game.

I feel this way about most open world environments. Chalk it up to system limitations, I suppose, but it does make for a lot of disappointment.

Open world games usually are empty sandboxes with very little interactivity.

I agree with you on interrogations. after the first few, it becomes repetitive. Definitely not the revolutionary feature it was touted to be.

I'm surprised no other game has used it, I guess it's probably cost prohibitive

You don't need replay ability, cause it seems like every case is exactly the same. It started out pretty good, but got old fast. Never finished it. Besides you have a war to win, don't got time for this shite

i kind of enjoyed it but was let down because of this. i still played it till the end. it seemed like a great concept but executed poorly. i found all the facial stuff inconsistent too. love the concept but hated the execution. it's probably worth a used price tho.
