And everything else remained the same, would we still advance?

Coin flip with Portugal in that case.

One more question...who's the last team to win the WC that didn't win their group? How common is that?

1982. Italy came in second to a group that Poland won, but the tournament format was different back then. After the first group stage, a second group stage was held, and Italy won their second group.

Negative.

Germans 7
US 4
Ghana 2
Portugal 2

ETA: Unless he was asking if we tied Ghana AND Ghana/Portugal was a tie. Then it would be different.

Ahhh.

Germany 7
USA 2
Portugal 2
Ghana 2

Goal Diffs
Germany 5
US -1
Portugal -4
Ghana 0

I think. Assuming 1-1 US/Ghana and 1-1 Ghana/Portugal.

If Ghana tied us and Portugal, that would have meant they tied all 3...0 GD. Portugal would've tied us and Ghana, but had a -4GD from Germany game. We would have tied Ghana and Portugal and -1 from Germany game. Germany and Ghana advance.

Well yeah. If Ghana has three ties, that's three points. That's better than both of us. Haha

Ghana would have tied all 3 matches resulting in a table of this and thus advancing

Germany 7
Ghana 3
USA 2
Portugal 2

What happens if nobody in a group scores?

USA 0 Ghana 0
USA 0 Portugal 0
USA 0 Germany 0
Ghana 0 Portugal 0
Ghana 0 Germany 0
Portugal 0 Germany 0

?

Penalty shootout after each of the last 2 games, winners advance. Hey, they have to score somehow.

Serious answer, all tiebreakers would fail to do anything, so they would have to draw names. The two teams that get picked would advance. Then I think they would draw again to see who the group winner is? It would be a mess.
