Can't the board be set up to bump on edits?

That way when you update a post it bumps it with the fresh information the same as a new post.

Just bump the thread.

I mean come on, I'm not going to be here every day to walk you people through life.

Yeah, but I was going for a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing thread.

I better suggestion would be the ability to search within a thread

How would you know which post was edited?

The date and time stamp. That stays like it is.

A new post adds new information and thus the thread is bumped.
So does an edit, but it does not get the benefit of a bump.

I was just applying consistancy. New information = bump, no matter new post or edit.

An edit is just that, and edit to an existing post. Not a new post.

ETA, also, the only way I'd see it being beneficial if the OP was edited. Other than that, how would you know what post was edited in a 13 page thread?

this makes sense and was part of the inspiration of the idea.

I was looking at "in game type threads" where the OP was updating but had to do empty bumps to bring it back up.

Stickies solve this too, but not every thread deserves that.
