Looking for a place to crash en route to Austin tomorrow night. Are there any places that I should avoid due to neighborhood issues, etc.? Thanks.

Stay off Broad Street... Other than that, you'll be okay

You'll want to look for the Budget Inn and cruise Enterprise for some evening company.

if you're just looking for a place to crash, think there's a hotel at Iowa exit 10 miles east of LC. Also a hotel on east side hwy 383 (i think) near Vegas Magic that's a quiet area

Stop at spring hill suites next to Lauberge

Tell them you work at St. Patricks hospital and would like the hospital rate. $90/night

Staying in Sulphur could also be an option so you can just stay on I-10. I don't know what time you plan on passing through but traffic off Nelson Rd is ridiculous at times.

I'm hitting the road at around 8pm. Wouldn't get to Houston until 1ish. Don't really feel like doing that, so I figured the LC area would be my best bet.

Any of the several brand new hotels near L'Auberge and Golden Nugget. Just opened a Hampton Inn on West Prien Lake last week.
