Retired Military Reservists

I will be eligible for retirement from the Navy Reserve in a little more than a year. Is it worth the aggravation to stay in beyond 20 years to try to pick up the next paygrade?

depends, what is your current rank and how close are you to promotion

I'm not a retiree yet, but I'm pretty well versed on the system. Each "good year" you get will increase your monthly benefit when you are able to draw (age 60). The Army has a retirement calculator for reserve components on their Human Resources Command website. You can play around and add points to see how much your retirement benefit will increase. The only person who can answer your question is really you. It boils down to how much do you want out versus how much can you increase your benefit. You can also plug in your rank or anticipated rank to see how much your benefit will increase.
ETA: I plan on staying until I'm 60 to maximize my benefit.

E-6 with a 50/50 chance to make Chief. I may just stay until I hit high year tenure. Hell, it's only two more years.
