CFN's Position U for the 21st Century....LSU well represented

I know this Position U thing has been beaten to death lately, but my homerism compelled me to post. CFN did their "position U" for the 21st century.
They declare LSU:
Running Back U
Wide Receiver U
Defensive Line U
I was shocked we were only rated number 4 for DBU. I was also shocked to see that we were ranked 2 for QBU.

Running Back U. of the 21st Century is … LSU. It’s not as if the Tigers have a quality back each year - that would be too pedestrian for this powerhouse. No, they typically house two, three or four runners who could be feature backs for most programs in the country. LSU sets the pace in the backfield with a dozen of its runners drafted, one more than USC. In a fitting representation of the school’s balance at the position, it had only one alum taken in the first and second rounds, Joseph Addai in 2006 and Jeremy Hill this past season, respectively.
quote:
Wide Receiver U. of the 21st Century is … LSU. Nobody consistently signs more athletic recruiting classes than LSU, whether it’s been Les Miles or Nick Saban in charge. And since many of those sprinters end up catching passes, the Tigers have had an NCAA-best 14 wide receivers drafted since 2000. In May, Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry were taken in the first 63 picks. What’s most intriguing about LSU’s wide receiver prowess is that it’s happened within an offense that never ranks among the nation’s—or SEC’s—leaders in passing. The last time a Tiger led the league in passing, Tommy Hodson was under center and it was 1989.
quote:
D-Line U. of the 21st Century is … LSU. No single position epitomizes LSU’s prowess over the past 15 years than the D-line. The Tigers have not only sent more linemen, 21, to the NFL Draft than any other program. That’s more players drafted from any single unit in college football over the same time period. Rarely has there been a season in which LSU couldn’t dominate the line of scrimmage with size, speed and unrivaled depth. Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, Chad Lavalais and Marcus Spears were foundational figures and a microcosm of what it means to be a 21st century Tiger.

I also like this part of the article:

TM7, Patrick Peterson, Corey Webster, Mo Claiborne, Eric Reid, Laron Landry, and I'm sure I'm missing a few.. please, we're 1st or 2nd at DB easily.
We shouldn't even sniff QB U ...

Chad Jones, Ron Brooks, Brandon Taylor, Chevis Jackson, Craig Steltz, Travis Daniels, Mark Roman
All in the top 4 rounds since 2000. That's only the guys in the top four rounds. That doesn't even include later round picks like Tharold Simon (who i think will have a pretty good career) or undrafted guys like Ryan Clark and Randall Gay.

Come to LSU where you can play as a freshman and increase your odds of being drafted

Don't get me wrong, i'm happy with WRU, DLU, and RBU, but LSU not being 1 or 2 with DB's is a travesty.

4. LSU – The Tigers have been on a tear this decade, with Chad Jones, Patrick Peterson, Morris Claiborne, Brandon Taylor, Eric Reid and the Honey Badger all going in the first three rounds. But a relatively quiet start to the century keeps LSU at No. 3 for now.
Who we missing early on? Gay, Webster then Landry, Steltz prior to those more recent guys above?
...I guess Clark was 2000 so he counts too.

So if you want to win championships you go to bama but if you want to get rich you go to LSU. I can dig it

OSU beat us out mostly due to the big points that players get for being all conference and All Americans. OSU's players had much easier times get All conference than LSU does in the SEC. This translated to All American accolades due to the stats that they get while beating their relatively weak opponents.
If it would have just been about the NFL then LSU should have beaten them.

It does seem strange since-- outside of a couple of years-- LSU hasn't had household names under center... yet, almost every starting quarterback going back almost 15 years to Booty and Rohan has made a roster. And that is pretty impressive. Off the top of my head, all of these quarterbacks made it to the league for at least a little while...
1) Booty
2) Rohan
3) Mauck... initially, I thought he was barely a practice squad player for Denver, but his wiki says he was on the roster with Denver for a year, and with the Titans for two, and had one start in 2005.
4) Marcus Randall... made it as a safety for a bit, I think, but he was still QB here and still made it to the league.
5) JaMarcus Russell
6) Matt Flynn
7) Mettenberger... barring something out of the ordinary, will almost certainly be in the league for at least a year.
JJ and JL are the only QBs with meaningful time as a starter that didn't hang on with a team for at least a year, making the 2012 draft the first time since pre-2000 that an LSU QB available for the draft wasn't picked up somewhere. And even JJ (with Tampa) and JL (San Diego) got invited to pro camps and had a puncher's chance to make it.
