Border Patrol scraps plan to fly illegal immigrants from TX to CA

I'll give you the reason: it's a combination of Cloward-Piven strategy and Chicago politics. You don't want to overwhelm the system in California (a Democrat stronghold), but it's OK to do so in Texas (a Republican stronghold).

maybe it was just seen as a massive waste of taxpayer money to charter flights full of illegal immigrants just to move them from one state to another

The flight form Texas to Mexico is a lot shorter than Texas to Cali. Just saying.

Exactly. If we don't want to spend the money for a flight then fine. If we do spend it to fly them...take them to fricking Mexico far from the border

Theoretically, possible. But when has FedGov ever cared about wisely spending taxpayer money?
Even more, why not charter those flights to, say, Central America or Mexico (where everyone came from)?
ETA: teke's right, that is too much to ask.

They do when spending that money wisely would actually improve the lives of American citizens, enforce laws, or relate to actually doing their jobs effectively. If spending more money wisely would do any of those above things, it won't happen
