Just went and looked at the subs, Potugal subbed a injured guy in the 15 minute mark, then subbed a guy at halftime.

So 4 total subs and the otherwise great ref added to many minutes. IMHO.

I don't really remember any second half injuries, they were behind and couldn't lay down, and the ref didn't stop the game for Jones's late injury.

I think Cameron went down once, but he didn't stay down 3 minutes, maybe a minute.

There was going to be 4 minutes added and it got bumped to 5 because of Gonzalez' s sub, which was only the 4rth sub of the second half, J.K. should have saved the sub until after the number had been flashed, but there is no way there should have been 5 minutes.

That said, Bradley had 2 open men to his left, or he could have kicked the ball into the stands.

Gutted I am, screw Portugal

If the refs ate being judged for further games, everything should be accounted for.

He had a lapse.

FIFA wants us to be a whipping boy. They make it easy for us to qualify so the "evil empire" is sure to be at every WC. Then they make sure we never do anything of great importance. Most of the world hates our every fiber and can get there jollies off us getting screwed in the worlds most popular game. We havent been good enough over the years to win it all anyway but its the principal.

The day will come when we will dominate. Maybe not 4 years from now, maybe not a decade from now, maybe not two decades from now. But the day will come and the rest of the world can suck our free cock on that day.

Imagine a Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson level athlete playing forward, and then imagine trying to stop that in the box. A few of those guys are going to sneak through as soccer players their entire lives and we will wreck shite.

I think thats why they are trying to put off our hosting the WC. Its planned years in advance and they know the USMNT is a top 15 team right now. We will have good and bad performances at the WC but where will we be in 4 years as a program? 8 years? They know if we could host we might very well "66" England or "98" France it for a 1 time victory. That would probably be bad for business.

If any team outside of Europe or South America ever wins it the WC it will be us.

I thought the 5 mins at the end of the Ghana game was more egregious, but this definitely should have been less too. For comparison, the France-Switzerland game had four goals scored in the second half plus subs and three added minutes. I don't believe it's a FIFA conspiracy, but I wish they would be more transparent about it.

Doesn't added time factor in penalties/free kicks though? Seemed like there was a lot of that going on.

I agree 5 mins was too much but if that is a factor I can see why it was given

Should have been 3 minutes added time.

Exactly. At least 3 and no more than 4. The reason most of us are so pissed is we watch the other matches that have more stoppages and less added time than our games. Games we have to play 5 extra minutes when we are ahead and played 2 when we were behind. The time we only got 2 minutes was the the time we had the most stoppages.

And let's not forget that water break in the first half. I understand it was necessary and probably needed, but come on. TWO FREAKING MINUTES???

I JUST watched the game again, and there were # subs, a minute and half.

3 injuries, about 2 minutes and the ref was going to add 4 minutes, but then Klins, right at the 90 minute mark decides to bring on Gonzalez for Zuzi ( a mistake imho, as we needed the mildfielder to stop a break, more than we needed to screw with our back line) then the ref decides to add amother minute for one last sub.

If J.K. was going to add the sub he should have waited for the 4 minutes to be flashed.

2 goals adds about a minute.

J.K
should have kept Gonzo on the bench.

We can't blame no one but ourselves in all reality.

I just never seen a ref anounce 4 minutes then change it to 5.

I never agree with you but yes

also each sub is supposed to be around 30secs added to extra time.

Clearly if this happened, we WOULD dominate. What makes you think they would give up American football or basketball to play something still relatively unknown to the masses in this country?

Because American Football is becoming less and less of an option for many parent in America. The NFL killed itself with all of the concussion stuff. I love football and think the concussion issue is waaaaay overplayed, but the fact is that youth football participation is way down. Those potential NFL stars are beginning to play Soccer. This situation just hasnt manifested itself into the pro game yet. In 10-15 years, we could easily see a player with the athleticism of Julio Jones or Calvin Johnson playing for USA soccer. The USA is coming....and the rest of the world knows it! USA!!!!!!

There were 2 goals, 4 total subs, and 2 or 3 injuries. I was expecting 4 or 5 minutes.

Pretty sure they stopped the game for both Jones and Beasley.
