After watching a lot of the soccer party videos, tweets, texts, and even the Angels outfielder going to a knee in disbelief after that last goal.

I'm just glad that the USA soccer team is bringing people together as Americans. No matter whether you like soccer, your race, your beliefs. It's America.

Welcome to the new 'Merica ... where a fricking tie ... oh sorry... a draw ... brings fricking posts like this.

Orange slices, Capri Sun, and Gay Focker participation trophies all around.

Thread hasn't really gone the way you'd hoped, I can imagine.

My honest opinion is that the end of this game was a bit of a setback on the road to growing the popularity of the sport among the rank and file US sports fans.

Less than a minute away from a win that would have put us at 2-0 in the group of death and automatically into the knock out stage to a last minute collapse to settle for the tie. That's a pretty big swing as far as perception.

Though to be honest I've felt for awhile that the real fight on the road to popularizing the sport among the average US fans is being fought at the high school level and in the efforts to make the youth club level financially accessible to a broader group of kids. So I'm not sure what happens in things like this World Cup have that much of a long term effect one way or the other.
