How much more should I expect to pay to have AC fixed on Sunday?

AC went out last night. From what I can tell, the capacitor needs to be replaced. The part runs about 20-30, and takes less than a half hour to replace, so I'd think labor would normally be less than $100. Still waiting to hear back from the company who installed our system...is labor normally double on the weekend? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect so that I don't get ripped off.

I had to get a guy out to fix my water heater on Christmas morning. Double time, and I tipped him a C-Note.

You can expect labor to run you time and a half or around $150. They will have at least a one hour min.

Try calling 2-3 companies, they'll tell you what it'll cost. Pick the one you prefer.

If the company that installed it won't come out today, Home 360 will if you are in the Baton Rouge area

Can u DIY?

Also, before we changed ours out, it would quit working but often would be an easy fix. Need new filter, drip pan full, blown fuse, freon refill. You went down that list?

It's easy to change that out. The hard part is finding an electrical part place to get one from today.

Be aware the capacitor will hold an electric charge that you need to short out after being careful to remove the connectors with insulated needle nosed pliers.

The capacitor is the main part of what they call the "hard start kit".

I know enough to know that I'm not handy enough to swap it out myself, which is why I called them to come change it out. Are capacitors typically specific to the unit, or are they interchangeable (by brand or something)? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if the guy is likely to have a part with him or is he going to have to get the part, meaning I'm probably out of AC until tomorrow anyway?

I had my capacitor changed about three years ago in my old house. Can't remember the price, but I do remember my drain pan overflowed after and screwed up the Sheetrock in my living room. Make sure your float works, and your drain lines are clear too.

They are interchangeable as long as the specs are similar.

Standard electrical part.

Expect to be pissed while paying him, but relieved once the A/C kicks on and starts cooling the house down.

Yep my first thought was that my drain was clogged so I spent an hour clearing it out.
