fricking idiot community, now the fricking Banned bitches have a statement to make?

Garabrant graduated from ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough last year. He had requested to wear his uniform during graduation, but the school did not allow it.

The school has released a statement reacting to Garabrant’s death.

“On behalf of the entire ConVal community I extend my deepest sympathy to Brandon’s family and friends,” Principal Brian Pickering said. “We are all shocked and deeply saddened by his passing and we are incredibly grateful for his service to our country.”

Garabrant was also a volunteer firefighter in Temple, New Hampshire.

Since Rex is currently on timeout - and I believe it is because he was calling out specific posters by name in an OP - I'm suggesting we try to refrain, as a community from doing it in this fashion.

I'm not telling you what to do (I can't, after all), but Jbird, brother, we have to start somewhere.

Wow. That seems to be a little weird.

Yes - flamed the board by calling out 23 separate posters he deemed to be "Chickenhawks".

And, all I'm saying is - ToS says "Don't flame the board" - "Don't call posters out."

If Rex gets banned for doing it (he should have been) - then we shouldn't do it, either.

Fair enough, he has had more lives than a cat.

I saw that yesterday, the school prolly didn't want to offend their Christian students

School officials say they have spoken with the student council, as well as with faculty members with military experience or who have family in the military. The consensus is that all students should dress alike, and no one should be singled out.

Huh I thought dress codes were verboten?

Wear of the cap and gown has existed for 9 centuries. The school seems to have at least put some thought into it. It doesn't seem like an "anti-Marine" decision.

That being said, RIP Marine.

Okay what does that have to do with the suit under the gown?

He was told he could wear his uniform under his gown.

quote:

the school’s principal emailed her to tell her that all students should wear school caps and gowns to celebrate their achievements there. He’s welcome to wear his uniform, he added, but needs to cover it with the traditional graduation gown.

. He had a right to be proud, but the school policy was cap and gowns. Although I rarely agree with school anything in this case the correct call was made. The principal making a statement post death of his former student showed class. If allowed to wear it then every splinter kook would be given a license to do the same but dressed in something less honorable.

Took less than a page to find that there are two sides to the story. Impressive job, everyone.

That's not the uniform that graduates wear at graduation. Would you express similar dismay if a Marine was told he couldn't wear his cap and gown to drill?

Or it could be they were trying to adhere to tradition.

A lot of military officers receive their commission at their college graduation. They wear their uniform, not a cap and gown. In any case, it's not a huge deal.

RIP Marine and Semper Fidelis.
