I know this has been discussed before but I was curious if anyone had signed up with Vivint. The things they are offering almost sound too good to be true. The technology does seen cool tho.

Thanks

I purchased a system a year ago. I told the guy I have a 24 hour rule before signing contracts and he agreed to come back (they'll try the old "this offer is only good today" nonsense.)

Researched the company and found that most of the complaints were bullshite and actually found a link showing some evidence that a lot of the negative reviews were placed by ADT. The guy came back the next day, I signed and they installed it that afternoon.

The system is great. I have 24 hour monitoring, cellular control of the system, two cameras (cellular controlled), and cellular controlled thermostats. You can get more but that was enough for me.

We've set it off accidentally a few times and they were quick to contact us through the intercom system. If we don't give them the password in a minute they send the cops.

The only issue I have is a faulty battery monitor. Every once in a while I get a notification that the battery is low even though its fine. Other than that, no complaints.

Had one come to my door the other day. Was very pushy and got offended when I turned him down. His sales skills need some major work.

That being said there's a couple of houses in my neighborhood that have it. I looked the company up and they have terrible reviews. If I want home automation I'll use one of the local companies.

I see all the bad reviews. I was just curious if anyone had first hand experience.

I saw all the bad ones as well. Then I noticed that one review from one state was nearly word-for-word the same as another review from another state.

What do you pay monthly for monitoring?

Just shy of $60. But that is for everything. I think monitoring was like $35. Not positive though.

It's definitely more expensive per month but the equipment is all at no charge. It works out in the long run.

I have had over ten come to my house over the past two months. I have literally just started answering the door and saying to go the frick away. I am in sales and I know that their job is to sell and that I am getting mad at them for doing their job. My problem is that if they are that big of a company they should have a list of customers like me who would rather burn their fricking house down than have that horseshite installed in my home. The worst part about it is that we have a strict no solicitation room in our subdivision which was part of the reason we bought the house.

Did you have to sign a 5 year contract? That's what the salesman told me.
