KFC, Hungry Jacks (which is actually Burger King) and McDonald's ("Macca's") rule the roost. Subway also has a strong presence.

Other than that, there are virtually no chains. I went from Sydney to Melbourne to Newcastle by car, and one of the things I noticed was that there were no Australian versions of "Chili's" or "Applebees" or "Chipotle" (nor the American versions).

It is practically a FDB utopia.

There are LOTS of chain restaurants in Australia.

They are EVERYWHERE.

Including Outback Steakhouse.
