Are crabs running in grand isle yet?

Thinking about trying to catch a few. Any tips or reports would be great. What's the best method? I've never really tried it before.

Not as of last weekend. Neighbor and I had 8 traps out overnight and all we had were a dozen crabs.

It usually peaks in July.....for years I would bring down about 20 nets, lay them in the surf about knee high, and pick them up quickly if they're biting good, let them soak if not. Make sure you throw back any females with sponges (eggs)....quite expensive if you're caught with these by green jeans.

It seems like crabbing on the side of highway 1 would be better than the surf. At least from my experience.

Got around a dozen in two days length of 3 traps. They're late this year.

No......I've caught more crabs in the grand isle surf than I care to remember. It's nothing catch 2 hampers in a couple hours if they're running.

I heard by Sanddollar they were running weekend of swollfest. I may try in am instead of fishing again. If I do I'll let you know how I do. All I have is a line so grass my hamper my efforts.
