Talk about a Friday news dump

Get ready to need a passport to fly in the US if you have a Louisiana DL

Good strategy by Jindal. If people are negatively impacted by this then he can rally behind them in an "us vs. Obama" fashion.

If the Feds back down to keep citizens from being collateral damage then Jindal will claim victory.

It won't prevent Jindal and his entourage from flying around the country, so wtf does he care?

The comment section is depressing. Jindal did the right thing. The Fedgov getting their little hand in everything needs to be reined in.

I know this REAL ID thing was a post-9/11 mandate, but what is/was deficient about individual state IDs?

Does the REAL ID have an added layer of security or something?

More power to the fed. Less to the state. Thats the gist of it.

Mehhhh, I'd like to see the details, but I'm lazy and I've been drinking so I don't wanna do the research myself

I don't recall everything that LA is lacking. The things I do remember were mainly DMV issues. Screening process for employees and who can be hired, limited access to blank ids by DMV personnel, updated camera/ security systems in DMVs, updated security measures on ID's themselves and, making a database that the Feds can access.

I'm not a supporter of real ID but this is not the way to fight it IMO.

Bobby Jindal is the absolute worst governor this state has ever had. I would take 20 years of Mike Foster before 8 years of this moron.

Oh yeah... And this Bill only gave citizens the option to opt in to real ID. So one does not even have to opt out

Yeah, I saw that important little detail when I read the article.

I also saw the groups he specifically named in his veto statement. Methinks this was about a national profile rather than the substance of the bill.

Yeah, Jindal is just mailing it in right now at this point. He did a lot of good for this state but there are so many things he left on the table it's very disappointing.

frickin Gene Mills is commenting and lobbying against it. What the frick does this have to do with two dudes buttfricking each other? Why does Gene Mills give a shite about this bill? Does he now give a frick about privacy or has he turned into some sort of scholar of federalism?

How much influence and power does Gene Mills and the family forum have in this state?

I feel like Nola is the only safe place from them.
