"Hard drive crashed"....

I laugh at that every time. That is such a fricking ridiculous excuse. Peoples hard drives crash every once and awhile and their emails are always recovered from the server.

This saga is setting up the whole possible scenario for future Presidents. Just claim your data (evidence) is lost, deflect and field a few skewering questions and all will be well.

Why isn't some sort of suit brought against the IRS? People get convicted everyday for evidence tampering - this shite has gone on for 2 years and not one person has been held accountable. Even Mr. Rouge out of "Cincy"

Edit: One person thus far - Steven Miller (great band btw)

Holder has "vast amounts of prosecutorial discretion". No one in the Obama administration will ever be convicted of anything so long as he sits in office.

The next GOP AG (if there is ever another one) could spend a lifetime prosecuting the crimes of this administration.

The groups that were investigated by the IRS have filed suit and have expanded them to cover the evidence in this case. I believe I read that there are 25+ groups seeking justice including the RNC.

Correct, it was Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida.

I think someone else is confusing Cummings with John Lewis of GA, who is sitting in the 3rd chair from Levin's left. Cummings is not even on the Committee.

The difference is that Hastings was convicted of being a crook.

That fricker was a federal judge in Florida who was on the payroll of the drug dealers. The FBI's criminal case against him was dropped but it was bad enough that Congress impeached and removed him from the federal bench, which almost NEVER happens.

Alcee Hastings

quote:

In 1981, Hastings was charged with accepting a $150,000 bribe in exchange for a lenient sentence and a return of seized assets for 21 counts of racketeering by Frank and Thomas Romano, and of perjury in his testimony about the case. In 1983, he was acquitted by a jury after his alleged co-conspirator, William Borders, refused to testify in court (resulting in a jail sentence for Borders).

quote:

The Senate had the option to forbid Hastings from ever seeking federal office again, but did not do so. Alleged co-conspirator attorney William Borders went to jail again for refusing to testify in the impeachment proceedings, but was later given a full pardon by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office.

Read all of Alcee Hastings' Wiki page. He still owes millions in legal fees from the shite that got him impeached, and he is the most nepotistic member of Congress. He paid his girlfriend nearly $600,000 last year!

This. They control how big the story is or isn't. Sadly for the American people, this story ranks below a temporary New Jersey bridge closing in importance.
