Would LSU ever host Southern in football?

I'm curious because we occasionally fill up open spots in the schedule with teams in-state like McNeese, and I'm wondering if there's anything political that would keep the two teams from ever playing each other.

Important caveat so this thread doesn't get taken out of context -- I'm NOT suggesting we play them, I'd rather a tougher out-of-conference schedule as I"m sure everyone else here does. Just wondering if there's any bad blood between LSU and SU that would keep them from being scheduled if we ever had to plug in a gap in our schedule on short notice or something. I've lived in BR all my life but I'm completely ignorant about LSU and SU's leadership or most local politics, so if you find yourself thinking "damn this dude doesn't know what he's talking about," you're right, so please help me out.

Thanks

I don't see why not since other SEC schools play SWAC schools.

The main reason is LSU doesn't want the riff raff on campus.

Sure, and I don't mean to say all of their football programs are equivalent, but they all serve the same role on our schedule (in-state filler when nothing more palatable shows up), so theoretically I don't see why they would be any different as far as scheduling goes.

These threads always make me think of the scene in Friday Night Lights... when they're sitting around the table discussing where they're going to play the championship game.

LSU's second team would destroy Southern. The jaguar players would get embarrassed. LSU is not the Grambling Tigers.

Hell...John Curtis could probably hang a little while with Southern.

Southern football is like the Source Awards every year you know someone is going to get shot. I remember when LSU was forced to parade with the Black College Champs in 2003 by whomever in charge of EBR at the time. Just an embarrassment however you view it.

I personally would be entertained if "the riff raff" was on campus.

You will get bashed for this comment but it's not far off. Rouge can back me up on this. We used to tailgate in a big open area behind the credit union. There was a group of black guys always set up close to us. They said they used to go to the southern games but quit because it was too much shite going on. They liked the atmosphere at LSU much better.
